Thank you for stopping by. My name is Thomas and I started gnosiv to share my thoughts and discoveries with a broader audience.

During my day to day work I get to meet and interact with lots of interesting individuals. This naturally involves discovering new topics and ideas. I am a very curious person that is interested in tech. Especially Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are dominating my current interests.

I feel like topics come and go - especially in our fast-paced world right now - however, articles are here to stay.

My initial goal was to preserve concepts and information I come across myself or pick up from others. Most of the content will be tech related but not exclusively.

This is a free space where everything I feel like is worth sharing will be surfaced for anyone to consume. Enjoy!

Here is a bit about the name gnosiv and what it means.

The name

Gnosiv is a made-up word. It joins a Greek word for knowing to a Latin word for seeing.

The first part comes from the Greek gnosis (γνῶσις), knowledge. Greek has more than one word for knowing. Episteme is the knowledge you can learn from a book and write down. Gnosis is usually the kind you get from experience: you have worked with something long enough to understand how it works from the inside.

The v at the end comes from the Latin visio, sight, the same root as the English vision. Here it means noticing the logic behind a screen or a piece of code, and the patterns that are easy to miss.

The ending also reads like -ive, as in active or creative, a suffix that comes from Latin and describes something that acts. For this site, that means knowledge that gets used and keeps changing.

Put together, the name means knowledge you gain by seeing. It also works the other way round: the more you know, the more you notice.
